Marriott Business Council Indonesia proudly announces the launch of its newest food truck, “Sadeva” dedicated to supporting the humanitarian efforts of Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Indonesia in reducing food waste by distributing surplus food to those in need. This marks a significant milestone in Marriott International’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and social impact initiatives in Indonesia.

The launch event for “Sadeva” takes place at the Bali International Convention Centre, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali on 16 April 2024. Marriott Business Council Indonesia members, representatives from SOS Indonesia, and select media partners gather to celebrate this significant initiative. During the launch event, 200 food packs are delivered to Yayasan Penyandang Anak Cacat (YPAC), a home for disabled children, symbolizing the commitment to support vulnerable communities in Bali.

Funded by the proceeds from Marriott International Indonesia’s annual charity event, Road To Give 2023, “Sadeva” joins the ranks as the second food truck funded by Marriott International. The first food truck “Doa Ibu” was launched in Jakarta on 15 October 2023 and has been instrumental in collecting surplus food and distributing it to the people in need in Jakarta. Now, “Sadeva” will extend this mission to the communities in Nusa Dua and Jimbaran, Bali.

Martin Ehlers, General Manager of Renaissance Bali Uluwatu and Chairman of Marriott Business Council Indonesia expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to expand our partnership with SOS Indonesia and contribute to addressing both food waste and challenges faced by some communities in Bali. ‘Sadeva’ represents Marriott International’s ongoing commitment to creating positive change and fostering sustainability communities.”

“Sadeva”, like its predecessor, is intended to support SOS Indonesia, a registered food rescue Non-Government Organization (NGO) operating in Bali since 2017. SOS Indonesia’s mission aligns perfectly with Marriott International’s 2025 Sustainability and Social Impact Goals and the UN Sustainability Development Goals, aiming to address both food insecurity and food waste simultaneously.

I Wayan Raksa, General Manager of The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud Bali and the Co-chair of Marriott Business Council Bali, expressed immense delight at the expansion of their food truck initiative to Bali, stating, “We are thrilled to see our second food truck, ‘Sadeva,’ rolling into Bali to support this impactful initiative. Extending our reach to the communities of Nusa Dua and Jimbaran signifies our commitment to addressing local needs and making a positive difference in Bali. Through ‘Sadeva,’ we aim to not only provide nourishment but also to foster a sense of community and sustainability in the beautiful island of Bali.”

Echoing these sentiments, SOS Founder and CEO, Bo Holmgreen emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing global challenges, saying, “SOS Indonesia is honoured to partner with Marriott Business Council Indonesia in our shared mission to create food equity and reduce food waste in Bali. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.”
