Being widely known as Bali’s center for traditional craft and dance, wandering around Ubud uplands brings so much peace and tranquility as you are walking through multiple rice fields, hiking trails, and picturesque sunsets. The sky high palm trees overlooking hills and lush jungles are what makes Ubud a must visit even though there is no beach or ocean sunsets. It is the heaven those nature loving have been searching for. There are yoga and meditation classes located in open areas, countless restaurants accommodating everyone specially vegetarians and vegans alike and finally for a bit of rush there is always the river raftings, mountain biking and famous Bali swings with their infinity views.
There is so much to do in Ubud that a couple of days is simply not enough and it satisfies anyone with their needs. From holistic healing enthusiasts all the way to grills and dines foodies there is room for everyone to truly enjoy this part of Bali. The waterfalls are also favoured by many instagrammers, adventure photographers and influencers recently.
Not far from the main boutiques and shopping spots, around some of the favourite guest houses and hotels on Jalan Raya Andong sitting adjacently from the river stream, away from the buzz and traffic there is a hidden gem with its everlasting beauty of Ubud sunset. Surprising little entrance leads to a perfect Balinese style hotel. Situated blissfully amongst the tallest of trees yet a panoramic skyline is visible from atop. Once done with the hustle and bustle of the touristic Ubud all you need is a ten minute bike ride further up north to find that zen location to rest up the day.
A Perfect Hideaway
Ubud is an absolute must when traveling to Bali because that is the place with Monkey Forest Sanctuary, famous waterfalls, temples and of course the yoga, meditation and retreat vibes, yet choosing where to stay in Ubud is no walk in the park. With many options of five-star hotels, resorts and villas, for a budget stay with great view, accessibility and tranquility The Pari Sudah Hotel can be an option.
The hotel provides an oasis of serenity, a pause moment much needed after enjoying the rafting, yoga session, dinner and Ubud’s nightlife which by the way is surprisingly lively. It is a short distance from the famous Ubud Palace yet well hidden away. Since there is no dining available at the hotel make sure to either eat in the city before heading back or have plans to order in as there are no restaurants or warungs around which actually makes the place even less crowded. It is just you and your personal time.
In fact after seeing the hotel sign it guides to a narrow alley further away from the main road and by the end of it there is a staircase going to the temple right next to the hotel’s entrance and just like that away from everything this cul de sac little alley drops you the destination. Nestled amid tropical jungle and offering sweeping view of the infinity pool, this hotel will surprise anyone with its charm and beauty. Giving a tribute to the culture and Balinese lifestyle, the architecture is carefully planned and executed, conveying the combination of traditional style and natural elements. The unique design, peace and finally perfect greenery are felt the moment you set foot at the front gate. The hotel’s spa is located in an open area near the main lobby and overlooking an infinity pool to enjoy a relaxing massage with an amazing view if it isn’t raining.
Architecture
Upon entering the lobby area, its tranquillity and sudden change of scenery and not to mention the décor chase the boring state of mundane life away. Details are carefully considered and implemented, transforming the check-in area into an Insta-ready space. Notice how the atmosphere of the space changes the mood into a more relaxed and zen state. The rooms and hotel itself are well hidden away from the main street and after hours of staying by the pool there is not a single bike or city noise. What a relief to anyone wishing to get some thinking, writing, and relaxation done.
Jungle Experience
Everything in this hotel radiates a vivid atmosphere. Once stepping out of the room there are cozy stairs leading down to the pool, a beautiful temple by the river and a less known hiking train that for sure is calling your name not far from the hotel. Take a dip in the refreshing pool overlooking the best of Ubud’s nature and if lucky there is a wide range of exotic birds nesting on the surrounding trees who visit this pool regularly to cool off. The occasional wind travelling through the trees is the only music band one will need as they create the most therapeutic soundtrack presented by nature. The trail itself is really clean, safe and comfortable to follow yet a good work out too specially if you don’t do stairs. The only thing you hear is the occasional roosters, birds chirping, breeze dancing and one’s own thoughts.
Time to unwind
Going across from the lobby, to the room area, there are signs guiding and yet another pool to experience. Each room with a balcony and smoking area is ready for the guests to take their cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the sunset and its mesmerizing colours. The artworks on the wall, and finally the unique design of the room, channels a very meditative state one might be craving for. There are eight rooms across four floors to choose from all overlooking the lush greenery and pool. And a total of 3 pool all with great depth and sizes for proper swimming and doing laps.
Whatever the choice, the rooms offer an intimate and refined comfort. The interior is earthy and warm with lots of wood furniture and wooden flooring. It is exquisitely designed with original décor and furnishings, complete with roomey washrooms and high quality organic toiletry sourced from Ubud’s best organic local brands. Sculptural lamps and wooden table lend a warm, tropical designer ambience. Splashes of different natural wood colours in ethnic patterns gives anyone an experience to remember.
However the hotel is in the middle of nature so watch for the possible visitors of nature as well that are the insects. They should be guided out and back to nature without harm. Ubud’s learning lesson might be to live in harmony with nature and be one with it.
